This will benefit about 50 lakh central employees and 65 lakh pensioners. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Anurag Thakur said that whenever a decision is taken to pay the installment of inflation allowance for July 1, 2021 in the future, the remaining three installments will also be given along with it. The Minister of State for Finance said that the government has saved about Rs 37,530.08 crore by not paying three installments of inflation allowance and it has been easier for the government to meet the economic crisis during the Corona.
Notably, at present, central employees receive an allowance of up to 17 percent of their basic salary. It is scheduled for July 2019 and was to be revised in January 2020. But because of the corona, it could not be improved. Last year, the Union Cabinet approved a 4 percent increase in DA to 21 percent, but it has not yet been implemented.
